The 2020 first-round pick could emerge as a key part of the Saints' pass-rush corps for the 2024 season, health permitting.

Nnadi suffered a triceps injury during Kansas City's wild-card win over the Dolphins after suiting up for all 17 of the team's regular-season games, and he was sidelined during OTAs. The defensive tackle can be activated from the PUP list at any point throughout training camp, though at this time it remains to be seen whether he'll be available for the Chiefs' playoff opener against Jacksonville on August 10.

The Padres selected Ornelas' contract and optioned him to Triple-A El Paso on Wednesday. Ornelas has spent the entire 2024 season at El Paso, slashing .316/.390/.515 with 12 home runs and five stolen bases across 310 plate appearances. Though he'll remain with El Paso coming out of the All-Star break, the 24-year-old outfielder is now a part of the Padres' 40-man roster. The transaction should improve his chances of receiving his first big-league call-up at some point later this season.

The Grizzlies traded Williams (back/hip) and a 2030 second-round pick to the Mavericks in exchange for Mamadi Diakite on Friday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. Williams made 51 appearances, including 15 starts, for the Grizzlies in 2023-24 before missing the remainder of the season with a right lower back injury and a hip flexor strain. Before going down to injury, the 22-year-old forward averaged 8.2 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 20.4 minutes. However, efficiency was an issue, as he shot just 39.7 percent from the field and 30.7 percent from three. If Williams is able to enter the 2024-25 campaign healthy, he will likely compete for depth minutes in Dallas' forward rotation.

Murfee (elbow) resumed throwing full bullpen sessions June 21, MLB.com reports. Murfee had previously been limited to throwing off the slope of the mound, but he's since taken a step forward in his recovery from last July's Tommy John surgery. He had been limited to throwing fastballs during his initial bullpen sessions, but it's possible he's been able to incorporate more breaking pitches in the month since being cleared for mound work. Murfee could be cleared to face hitters shortly after the All-Star break and could return from the 60-day injured list later in the second half.
