Fans of the WNBA were absolutely devastated to learn that Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark, famous for her logo threes, was not participating the 3-point contest during the All-Star weekend in Phoenix.

Clark, who broke the WNBA record for the most assists in a single game (19) just two days before the 3-point contest, desperately needed rest after the insane year she's had.

"I need a break and I need to take some time to enjoy what I want to do," Clark told reporters following the All-Star team's first practice on July 19. "At times that can be tough being in the position that I'm in, but I think it's the healthiest thing to do."

The 22-year-old called maintaining great mental health "the most important thing" and it's not easy as a professional athlete. But at the end of the day, she's just human. Clark also noted she hasn't had time to practice for the competition as her main focus remains on the Fever and stacking wins.

"I've been playing basketball for a year straight. It's not an easy thing to just show up to and shoot off a rack. It's not something I've ever done before."

"There's going to be plenty of opportunities for me to do that at some point," the rookie All-Star continued. "But at the same time, I feel like all the shooters that we have in the competition are really good. They're all 40% shooters. I'm excited for them and I'll be there supporting them."

The players participating in the 3-point contest on Friday night include Washington Mystic's Stefanie Dolson, Atlanta Dream's Allisha Gray, New York Liberty's Jonquel Jones, Connecticut Sun's Marina Mabrey, and Minnesota Lynx's Kayla McBride.
