WNBA Legend Brittney Griner Announces Major Personal News

Phoenix Mercury star Brittney Griner is about to take part in what will be her ninth WNBA All-Star Game. However, this one is going to be extra special for the 33-year-old as she enters the All-Star weekend following a major life milestone.

Griner made a massive announcement ahead of Saturday's contest about a major life milestone. She is now a parent after she and her wife, Cherelle, welcomed their first son into the world earlier this month.

"He's here," Griner said. "7/28/24. 7 pounds, 8 ounces. He is amazing. They said as soon as you see them, everything that you thought mattered just goes out the window. That's literally what happened."

The Phoenix center also made it clear that she isn't a mom and that instead, she wants her son to refer to her as "pops."

Griner also admitted to having a bit of separation anxiety after having to leave her son behind to attend to her day job.

"It kinda sucks because I gotta leave but at the same time, yeah, he'll understand," Griner said.

Someone still has to pay the bills, right?
