Brittany Griner, Wife Cherelle Make Pre-WNBA All Star Game Baby Announcement

Phoenix Mercury star Brittany Griner and her wife Cherelle made a huge baby announcement on Friday just one day before the WNBA All-Star Game.

The news came a day after a huge Diana Taurasi announcement by her current home franchise.

The Griners' baby update was shared by TMZ.com as the jubilant parents celebrated the arrival of their baby boy.

"He's here," the Mercury center said without sharing the baby's name or photos. She did share the baby's weight

"Seven pounds, eight ounces," Griner said.

Griner is currently averaging 18.3 points and 6.4 rebounds along with nearly two assists for the Mercury ahead of Saturday night's WNBA All-Star Game.

Griner and her wife Cherelle wed in 2019. Griner referred to herself as "pops" upon the announcement, calling the couple's newborn "amazing."

"He is amazing!" Griner said. "They say you know as soon as you see him, everything that you thought mattered just goes out the window and that's what literally happened," the Mercury center added.

The baby boy is the couple's first child.

"Kinda sucks because I gotta leave...But he'll understand," Griner said about heading to Paris to play for Team USA in the Summer Olympics.
