Indiana Fever star Erica Wheeler will not be taking part in the WNBA Skills Challenge on Friday night after an unfortunate travel blunder. The Fever guard announced earlier in the day that her flight to Phoenix had been canceled, which has forced her to pull out of the All-Star event.

Fever fans need not worry too much because it has now been confirmed that it will be Indiana teammate Kelsey Mitchell who will be taking Wheeler's place in the highly-anticipated Skills Challenge.

The WNBA made the "very important" announcement via X, formerly Twitter, which included messages from both Wheeler and Mitchell.

Wheeler is obviously disappointed about having to miss the competition, but she's also excited to have her own teammate take her place. Mitchell clearly shares the same enthusiasm amid this sudden turn of events.

Mitchell will now be going up against fellow WNBA stars Brittney Griner, Sophie Cunningham, Allishay Gray, and Marina Mabrey in the Skills Challenge.
