Aston Villa have no intention of allowing star striker Ollie Watkins to leave the club this summer, according to Football Insider.

On the latest edition of the Inside Track podcast , senior correspondent Pete O'Rourke revealed that Villa might offer Watkins a lucrative new deal to put an end to ongoing speculation about his future.

The England international enjoyed a stunning 2023/24 season and earned a place in the Three Lions' Euro 2024 squad. He scored the winner in the semifinal against the Netherlands.

Watkins has been linked with a possible move away from Villa Park despite having helped his side secure UEFA Champions League football for the coming season.

Chelsea swap deal for Ollie Watkins proposed

Chelsea are reportedly considering a sensational swap offer for Watkins, which would include at least one first-team player plus cash in exchange for the prolific striker.

Additionally, Football Insider reported that Cole Palmer attempted to persuade Watkins to join Chelsea during their time together at the Euros.

However, Aston Villa are not entertaining the idea of letting Watkins go this summer. The striker is under contract until 2028, and any potential transfer fee would be between £70-80 million ($90-103 million), a price that few clubs can afford given financial fair play (FFP) and profit and sustainability regulations.

Ollie Watkins' value to Aston Villa and Champions League football

Watkins is a versatile forward who can play alone up front or in a pair, making him a highly sought-after player. Despite the interest, Villa are confident that Watkins will remain with them for the upcoming season.

The club finished fourth last season in the Premier League, securing Champions League football, which adds to their appeal and reduces Watkins' incentive to seek a move elsewhere.

The striker's impressive performances at the Euros, including a crucial goal that took England to the final, have only increased his value.

Last season, Watkins was instrumental in Villa's success, scoring 27 goals and providing 13 assists in all competitions.

With his contract running until 2028 and Villa's determination to keep him, it seems likely that Watkins will continue to lead the line for the club next season, much to the delight of Villa fans.
