Sometimes when you've heard a question over and over again, you get tired of having to provide an answer.

Las Vegas Aces star Kelsey Plum wasn't tired on Friday, but she took the opportunity to put a statement out once and for all when asked about her team's early-season struggles, and the reasoning behind them.

When talking at WNBA All-Star Weekend, Plum was asked what went into the turnaround for the two-time defending champions, who started 6-5 on the year with head coach Becky Hammon's first-ever three-game losing streak.

It was a simple answer for Plum, but quite a walk to get there.

"I've said this before, but I'm glad we get the opportunity to talk about it again," Plum said. "When you take out a player like Chelsea Gray, it's like...we've been constructed like a cake, and when you take out the sugar from the cake, it's like cornbread. That's what everyone saw for the first 10 games: cornbread. And it had no honey butter on it."

That's certainly one way to put it.

Gray, who has averaged 12 points and 5 assists per game in her career, was forced to miss the first part of the season with an injury. Once she returned, though, the Aces were able to turn things around and get back to their winning ways.

"We just needed to get our ingredients back together, and that's really all that was," Plum said. "To answer your question, we weren't cooked. We were just missing a key ingredient to the cake."

The Aces have won 10 of their last 12 games and currently sit in fifth place in the league at the All-Star break. There should be an expectation going forward that they are around at the end of the playoffs once again, fighting for a third-straight WNBA Championship.
