USA Basketball is playing a Showcase Game against South Sudan on Saturday, and they are again without Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant. Supposed to be one of Team USA's top NBA stars, Durant has been sidelined with a calf injury.

It was reported by The Athletic's Shams Charania on Friday that Durant is nearing a return, as the NBA insider wrote the following on X:

"Sources: Kevin Durant is expected to return to Team USA practice today in London – his first with this Olympic team – and could make his debut in one of exhibition games vs. South Sudan on Saturday or vs. Germany on Monday. He is returning from a strained calf."

Durant's return did not come on Saturday vs. South Sudan, but he did warmup on the court with Team USA, which was a good sign. During these warmups, Durant was caught in the middle of Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James' pregame chalk toss, and the video has been going viral on social media:

USA really struggled in the first half vs. South Sudan, entering halftime trailing 58-44. Heavy favorites entering this game, USA was stunned by how South Sudan played in the first half. Still with plenty of talent in Durant's absence, Team USA will need the Suns star back soon as the Paris Olympic games approach.

James was USA's best player in the first half, tallying a team-high 12 points entering halftime:

The leader of this group, James has USA Basketball experience that he will lean on as this run continues.
