Team USA head coach Cheryl Reeve faced heavy backlash after her squad lost to Caitlin Clark and Team WNBA in the All-Star Game.

Obviously, Team USA entered the game as heavy favorites. After all, they were supposed to be the best team in the nation composed of players who underwent a rigorous selection process.

Against Team WNBA, however, the national team was no match and succumbed to a 117-109 loss.

Arike Ogunbowale, who was largely considered as a Team USA snub, led the way for Team WNBA with 34 points, three rebounds and six assists.

Clark, for her part, came close to breaking the All-Star assist record after she finished with 10 dimes. The record was 11, set by Sue Bird back in 2017. While the Indiana Fever rookie didn't have the best game offensively (going 2-of-9 from the field), it was indeed quite the memorable game for her.

Many were quick to criticize Reeve for losing to the players whom Team USA snubbed. For those not in the know, many were also campaigning for Clark to be part of Team USA before the organization made its decision.

"Cheryl Reeve vs Caitlin Clark 0 and 2," a commenter said, referring to the Team USA loss and the recent defeat that Reeve's Minnesota Lynx suffered against Clark and the Fever.

"Cheryl Reeve after her Team USA loses to Arike Ogunbawale and Caitlin Clark," another social media user shared along with an insulting meme.

"Cheryl Reeve taking another L to Caitlin Clark and gang," a third critic said.

A detractor added, "Cheryl Reeve getting her ass kicked by Clark and the other Olympic snubs is art."

"Cheryl Reeve so pissed Caitlin Clark is the best point guard in this game," a WNBA critic chimed in.

Another commenter agreed, "Cheryl Reeve gotta be sick of Caitlin Clark man."

While it's only an exhibition game and Team USA doesn't need to worry excessively about the loss against equally talented players, it's definitely not a good look for head coach Cheryl Reeve and the USA basketball selection committee.
