Breanna Stewart Sends Stern A'ja Wilson Message To Team USA After Loss To WNBA All-Stars

Breanna Stewart did all she could for Team USA on Saturday night. The two-time WNBA MVP turned in a monster 31-point, 10-rebound double-double on 10-of-21 shooting, to go along with three triples, three assists, a steal, a block, and zero turnovers in 31 minutes of action.

It was not enough.

Despite Stewart's valiant effort, Team USA still suffered a 117-109 defeat against Team WNBA in a crucial tune-up game for the national squad and their gold medal hopes for the upcoming Paris Olympics.

After the tough loss, Stewart fired a stern reminder to Team USA as she highlighted her leadership role alongside current MVP frontrunner A'ja Wilson.

"We're in, like, the shifting of the guards, if you will," Stewart said, via Alexa Philippou of ESPN. "A'ja and I have talked about it. It's making sure that this is our team and we don't let anything get past us."

"... Throughout this entire trip, A'ja and I are going to continue to find our voices more in the locker room," Stewart said. "It's not time to panic but it is time to learn and grow and figure out how we can be our best together."

On Saturday night, Stewart and Wilson combined for 53 points as they tried to will Team USA to victory. They fell short.

It's not just in the scoring department where the national squad will rely on these two superstars to lead the charge. As Stewart stated in her statement, they will need to make sure that they step up as the vocal leaders of this team both on and off the court.
