LeBron James Makes United States Olympic History

NBA superstar and United States Men's Basketball player LeBron James has made Olympic history, as announced Monday morning.

James has been selected as the Opening Ceremony Flag Bearer for the Paris Olympics, becoming the first U.S. men's basketball player to receive this honor.

The official Team USA page revealed the exciting news on X, with Steph Curry sharing the announcement.

“We would like to nominate LeBron James to be the flag bearer for all of Team USA,” Curry said, presenting the honor to James during a USA Basketball meeting. “You get to wave the flag in Paris my man,” he added.

This historic selection comes shortly after James led the men’s national team to a dramatic, 101-100, victory over South Sudan.

Down by 14 points at halftime, James played a crucial role in the comeback, scoring the game-winning layup with just eight seconds left.

He finished with a game-high 25 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists, helping the United States improve to 4-0 with one game remaining in the preliminary round.

James is competing in his fourth Olympics, having previously won a Bronze medal in 2004 and Gold medals in 2008 and 2012.

Heading into this year’s Games, he ranks first in assists (88) for Team USA, second in games played (24), and third in points (263).

As an NBA icon with multiple championships and MVP awards, James continues to add to his remarkable career with this groundbreaking achievement, marking another milestone in his illustrious journey.
