BROCKTON, Mass. (WPRI) — An investigation is underway after a 39-year-old Fall River man was killed in a stabbing Saturday in Brockton.

Officers responding to the intersection of Crescent and Montello streets around 6:15 p.m. Saturday found a male victim.

The victim, identified as Edmar Goncalves, was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police say the suspect, 36-year-old Johnny Richmond, was found at the scene and placed under arrest.

It’s unclear what let up to the stabbing but police say it does not appear to be a random act of violence.
