    Driver strikes two pedestrians in Itasca County, killing one

    A driver struck two pedestrians in Itasca County early Monday, killing one and injuring the other.

    According to a Minnesota State Patrol incident report, a Chevy Monte Carlo was traveling southbound on Highway 169 in the left lane when it struck two people "walking in the southbound lane" at around 1:25 a.m.

    Both victims landed in the southbound lanes of Highway 169. One was pronounced dead from their injuries, while the other was airlifted to St Mary's Hospital in Duluth.

    The investigation is still ongoing and no arrests have been made.

    The deceased's identity has not been revealed at this time.
