Cardinals training camp: Vibe check, Kyler Murray, run game and more

The Arizona Cardinals open training camp this week and begin to get ready for the 2024 regular season. Cards Wire’s Howard Balzer was a guest on FOX10 Sports Night with Richard Saenz on Sunday night and answered all the burning questions surrounding the team.

They discussed the following:

• The improved vibe around the team with players actually looking forward to training camp.
• Kyler Murray and what a difference a year makes after he was fully invested during the offseason.
• The focus doesn’t have to be Murray to do it all. Ground game with James Conner and Troy Benson. Added weapons and the ability to be balanced on offense.
• 1-2 punch of Murray with Marvin Harrison Jr. and Trey McBride. Be able to use the entire field in addition to Murray using his legs when necessary.
• Defensive line needed reinforcements and it came in free agency and the draft. Stopping the run can lead to improved pass rush, while offensive improvement takes pressure off the defense and can keep them off the field.
• Saenz surprised Howard with it being his birthday.
