FRANKLIN CO., Wash. - A large wildfire in Franklin County, named the Davin Road Fire, is out, according to officials.

The fire burned near a remote area, just east of Kahlotus. The fire did become a threat to Lyon Ferry Fish Hatchery and Park, but due to the work from firefighters and state fire mobilization efforts, the park was not damaged.

The fire was reported on Sunday, July 21, just before 7:30 a.m. It spread quickly and that prompted Franklin County Fire District 2 Fire Chief Scott Moore to request state firefighting resources. The size of the fire was estimated at about 1,782 acres and burned grass, brush and rangeland.

People who live in the area of the fire said they saw aircraft from the state attacking the fire from the air and with crews also working on the ground, it stopped the fire quickly.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation at this time. There were no evacuations associated with the Davin Road Fire.
