Sean Kingston and his mother, Janice Turner, are facing potential decades in prison following their indictment by a federal grand jury on wire fraud charges. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida announced the charges on July 19, 2024, accusing the pair of orchestrating a scheme to defraud sellers of high-end vehicles, jewelry, and other specialty items.

According to the indictment, Kingston (born Kisean Anderson), 34, and Turner, 61, are each charged with one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and five counts of wire fraud. The charges allege that the defendants used fraudulent documents to falsely claim that they had completed bank wire transfers or other payments for the goods, when in reality, no such payments were made.

If convicted, each defendant faces up to 20 years in prison per count. The indictment details that Kingston and Turner allegedly obtained more than $1 million in property through their scheme, which involved stealing nearly $500,000 in jewelry, $160,000 from an Escalade dealer, and $86,000 from a company specializing in customized beds.

Kingston was arrested on May 23, 2024, in California after a raid on the South Florida mansion he was renting. Turner was arrested earlier the same day. The arrests followed an investigation prompted by a February lawsuit filed by Ver Ver Entertainment, which alleged that Kingston failed to pay for purchased items and made multiple false claims, including a fabricated ongoing relationship with Justin Bieber.

This legal battle is one of several issues Kingston has faced recently, including a previous probation period for trafficking stolen property.
