Man accused of stabbing his mother in Anderson Co.

ANDERSON COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – A man is accused of stabbing his mother Tuesday morning in Anderson County.

According to the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the 2000 block of Cobbs Way just after 7 a.m. after a 911 call from a woman who said she had been stabbed.

Deputies arrived at the scene to find the victim with a stab wound and detained the suspect.

The sheriff’s office said the victim had to undergo surgery and is in stable condition at the hospital.

Deputies said the victim’s son stabbed her in the neck with a kitchen knife.

Her son, identified as 40-year-old Robert Torres, was arrested and charged with attempted murder, according to the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office.

Torres is being held in the Anderson County Detention Center.

Deputies said this is an isolated incident that remains under investigation.
