Step inside for the latest on several 2025 and 2026 prospects on Mississippi State’s radar in football and basketball along with team news:

First Biscuit – Starting the day with basketball recruiting, on Monday I talked to sources regarding 2025 combo guard and On3 three-star prospect Salim London and 2025 Tennessee commitment and On3 four-star center Dewayne Brown . This summer Mississippi State has watched both London and Brown in person on the summer circuit and Brown officially visited Mississippi State back in February. Since that visit happened during his junior season and per NCAA rules, Brown could still take another official visit to State if he chooses so. Sources said that State is still in contact with Brown but he remains solid with his Tennessee decision. State has one center already committed in the Class of 2025 with On3 three-star prospect Chol Machot. With London and if you have noticed, State has several other guards on their board ahead of him. So far, London has not scheduled an official visit to Mississippi State and that could be telling.

Second Biscuit – Moving to football recruiting, on Monday I talked with 2025 defensive lineman and On3 four-star prospect Zavion Hardy of East Mississippi Community College. Hardy took official visits to Arkansas, Mississippi State and South Carolina in June and told me he just set up an official visit to Alabama for late September. Hardy added that he may also take an official visit to Florida in October but that he has not set that yet. Since his State visit, Hardy said head coach Jeff Lebby and defensive line coach David Turner have been recruiting him hard and said those relationships are getting stronger. He added that Lebby and Turner told him he can provide instant help for the defense and be a difference-maker. Hardy said he has not cut down his list of favorites yet and he still plans to make his college decision on November 29th.

Third Biscuit – Moving to the Class of 2026, on Monday I talked with 2026 cornerback and On3 composite four-star prospect Brody Jennings of Mandarin (Fla.) High School, who is the younger brother of Mississippi State linebacker Branden Jennings. He holds offers from Florida, Texas A&M, Kentucky, Miami, Virginia Tech and Louisville among others and he also camped at Mississippi State last month. Jennings said that he had a good showing at the Bulldogs’ camp and while he wasn’t offered, he said State’s coaches told him they would be watching him in person in Week 1 or Week 2 of his senior season. Jennings talked well of his time around Jeff Lebby and assistants Coleman Hutzler, Matt Barnes and Corey Bell, and said they made him feel at home. Jennings said his brother is enjoying his time at State so far and told Brody he would love it there, too. At this point, Jennings does not have any early favorites.

Fourth Biscuit – Staying with the Class of 2026, over the past few days I’ve tried to reach the 2026 Mississippi State commitments to see which ones are able to attend the recruiting cookout on Thursday. Defensive back Iverson McCoy and running back Jaeden Hill of Tupelo High School have plans to be there while receiver Kenny Darby of Airline (La.) High School is not sure if he can make it yet. I have not been able to reach quarterback Michael Johnson of Dutchtown (Ga.) High School yet and I will keep trying to reach him this week. As noted, Mississippi State is expected to welcome several 2026 prospects to that cookout event and that likely includes several more guys from the Magnolia State, which likely includes On3 four-star receivers Xavier McDonald and O’Mari Johnson.

Fifth Biscuit – Also on Monday, I talked some with 2025 Mississippi State commitment and On3 four-star quarterback prospect Kamario Taylor of Noxubee County High School. As you saw, Taylor has had a busy offseason with numerous national camps along with his own team duties. Taylor said Noxubee County has started preseason practices and like the rest of the state, they will be in full pads in another week. Taylor said he expects the offense to be explosive, mainly due to returning an experienced offensive line. He added that they have a lot of guys to replace on defense but that the Tigers have lots of talent on that side, too. Of course, Taylor will be back at Mississippi State on Thursday for the cookout event and he said he looks forward to just being around the other commitments and State targets. He remains locked in with his decision and as mentioned before, he’s on track to enroll at Mississippi State in January.

And for the gravy on top – And lastly on Monday, I talked some more with 2026 running back and On3 four-star prospect Damarius Yates of Kemper County High School. Yates said he also plans to be at Mississippi State’s recruiting cookout on Thursday and is expected to make the trip with teammate and 2025 Mississippi State commitment Mario Nash. Yates has collected several Power 4 offers already but Mississippi State has definitely caught his attention since head coach Jeff Lebby took over the program. As noted, Yates told me recently that his college decision could be happening soon and on Monday, I put in a Mississippi State prediction for Yates on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.
