Highly recruited Class of 2025 prospect Daria Biriuk’s recruitment is still open, but she’s starting to take official visits in the hopes of narrowing down her list, she told On3.
Daria Biriuk, a 6-foot-1 shooting guard originally from Ukraine, has officially visited Mississippi State and unofficially visited Louisville , Vanderbilt , Maryland and Ohio State so far. She told On3 that she’s also set an official visit to Vanderbilt for Aug. 31 and is in the process of setting up officials to Ohio State and Colorado for the fall. Those schools, in addition to Oregon State , are the programs she’s been in contact with the most recently.
“I feel like it’s pretty hard,” Biriuk told On3. “Honestly, it’s the hardest decision of my life.”
There are several factors that Biriuk is considering when making her decision, but location isn’t one of them. Originally from Ukraine, Biriuk is now living in Bell Buckle (TN) and attending The Webb School.
“Location doesn’t matter,” Biriuk said. “It’s more about family and the people around me. I don’t want to just have my coach for four years, I want them to be there even after my four years of college. I want to stay close with my college coach and teammates.”
Daria Biriuk hopes to make her decision in November, but if she takes a visit and knows it’s the program for her, she has no problem deciding sooner. She broke down her top schools:
Mississippi State
“It was really awesome. I liked everything. I liked the coaching staff, the location, the school – it’s pretty awesome. The team is just a family. I loved it. I don’t know how I’m going to decide, but Mississippi State was so awesome.”
Vanderbilt
“I was following them the whole season and I was coming to their games – almost every home game, because I live an hour away. Their school is awesome too. Their team is great, the coaching staff is great and the school is Vanderbilt, you know?”
Ohio State
“I went to their game during March Madness against Duke . There were so many people. It was a huge game. It was probably the biggest game I’ve ever been to. I was pretty sad because they lost that game, but it’s OK. I really like that school. They’re always watching me play.”
Louisville
“I went once with my teammate just to watch their game. They played against Pittsburgh and they beat them by a lot. It was pretty good.”
Maryland
“It was my first unofficial visit. I went to that school last year and it was my first experience of an unofficial visit. Their school is so big and beautiful.”
