Former Eagles All-Pro pass rusher Haason Reddick to skip Jets training camp amid contract holdout

The New York Jets report to training camp today, however, veteran defensive end Haason Reddick is expected to be a no-show .

ESPN's Adam Schefter confirmed Reddick won't be reporting to camp with the rest of his team as he continues to hold out for a new contract.

Reddick potentially skipping training camp has been an ongoing rumor this offseason and is no surprise considering he also did not show up for OTAs or mandatory minicamp.

Per ESPN , the Jets knew Reddick wanted a long-term deal before trading the Philadelphia Eagles for him, but thought they could 'make the relationship work' instead of offering him more money.

That obviously hasn't been the case.

Reddick, 29, is due a non-guaranteed $14.25 million in 2024, the final year of his three-year, $45 million contract that he signed with the Eagles in 2022. That deal looks like a bargain now for one of the only players in the league to record 10 or more sacks over the last four seasons.

Many analysts, including former NFL offensive lineman Ross Tucker, believe Reddick should not settle for his current deal.

"Hasson Reddick is not playing for $14 million this year," Tucker said during an appearance on 94WIP . "I don't blame him, he shouldn't do it. Nick Bosa makes $32 million a year. Why should Haason Reddick be playing the last year of his deal for less than half of what he's worth?"

But after a slight dip in production last fall, it makes sense as to why the Jets might be hesitant to pay an almost 30-year-old more money-- just like Howie Roseman was.

Skipping training camp isn't cheap, however, and could cost Reddick $50,000 for every day he misses.

We'll see how long this lasts.
