In a recent interview, Halle Berry stated that her role in “Catwoman” made her a cat lover. The actor was a dog lover throughout her life, but playing Catwoman in the iconic movie developed her love for felines. Berry now has two kittens of her own and cares for their mom, the family’s outdoor cat.
Lifelong dog person Halle Berry says ‘Catwoman’ made her a cat lover
Halle Berry recently told Entertainment Weekly that her love for cats stems from her role in the 2004 film “Catwoman.” Before meeting feline Playdough, she had been a dog person. Since she didn’t have a kitty of her own, the production team gave her one, who helped her prepare for her role.
Berry noted, “I’m a Catwoman through and through, because of that experience and those relationships. That experience changed me.” She observed Playdough to better understand how cats see the world. From how they walk to how they think, Halle Berry took pointers from Playdough for her infamous role. In the interview, she stated, “I’d crawl around my house, trying to jump on my counters, thinking, ‘If I were a cat, how would I get up there?'”
The “ John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum ” star is now a cat mom who adopted two kittens she found in her yard towards the end of June. She rescued the entire litter and helped her kittens’ siblings find their forever homes. The black felines Boots and Coco joined Halle Berry’s canine companions, two adorable Labradoodles who often feature in her Instagram account.
The actor spayed and released the mama cat but clarified that she would remain the family’s outdoor kitty and would be cared for. Moreover, in the Instagram post introducing the new additions to her family, she joked about having a “full house” to deal with.
