49ers' Kyle Juszczyk explains how wife helped offset lost salary after pay cut

When the San Francisco 49ers asked All-Pro fullback Kyle Juszczyk to take a pay cut next season, he admits that he took it personally.

Juszczyk ultimately agreed to lower his salary and save the team approximately $4M in cap space, and as he tells Mike Silver of the San Francisco Chronicle, his wife Kristin has already more than made up for the lost revenue through her clothing business, which has been booming since landing an NFL licensing deal.

“[Having her business boom] definitely does [help],” Juszczyk told Silver . “Because quite frankly, she’s already made up for my cut. So that definitely helps.”

Despite reworking his contract, Juszczyk is still the highest-paid fullback in the NFL. His $4.55M salary tops Miam’s Alec Ingold ($4.06M per year), and the two are the only FBs in the league to earn more than $4M per season, according to Over the Cap .

Kristin’s business took off during the postseason after pop star Taylor Swift wore a custom-designed Travis Kelce puffer jacket to the Kansas City Chiefs playoff game against the Miami Dolphins on Jan. 13.

Having Swift as an unofficial spokesmodel put an unprecedented amount of eyeballs on Kristin’s clothing company, Designs By Kristin, and two weeks later, the NFL granted her an official licensing deal which allows her to use NFL logos and colors with her designs.

Kristin’s reach isn’t just limited to the NFL, however. Former Golden State Warriors star Klay Thompson rocked a custom 49ers jacket back in January that was designed by Kristin.

Since the NFL playoffs ended, Designs By Kristin has been kept busy with several requests for custom apparel from numerous celebrities and professional athletes.
