If anyone has unique insight into how the Miami Dolphins are perceived by their AFC East-rival Buffalo Bills, it’s Jordan Poyer.

Now a member of the Dolphins after signing with the team in free agency following a seven-year stint with the Bills, Poyer spilled the beans on Tuesday about how his new warm-weather teammates weren’t exactly perceived in the most favorable light by his former team.

“I think just sharing the experience, playing against this team over the past few years, you kind of get a sense of, ‘OK, if you get on top of this team, they might fold,’” Poyer said , via The Palm Beach Post. “And there are some teams that are — this is just being honest — what is that that happens in those moments where we get hit in the mouth?”

Poyer hinted that the Bills often emerged victorious in their clashes with the Dolphins because they exhibited more resiliency in the face of adversity. Buffalo was 13-2 against Miami during Poyer’s tenure, including a 34-31 wild-card win during the 2022 playoffs.

“I mean, I've been in games and we've been down 21 points and ended up winning,” Poyer added. “So it's just continuing to just play the game. The game is going to come down to the last series, the last play, so just keep playing, don't get stuck in that play that you didn't make or don't get stuck into X, Y, or Z of the past.”

Poyer’s presence in the Dolphins secondary should bring some much-needed toughness to a defense that had 78 missed tackles and allowed a passer rating against of 102.4, per Pro Football Focus .

A First Team All-Pro and Pro Bowl safety, Poyer will likely battle with Jevon Holland Marcus Maye for first-team reps in Miami’s defensive backfield.
