ST. MARY’S COUNTY, Md. ( DC News Now ) — The Chief of Emergency Medical Services for St. Mary’s County Government allegedly tampered with a narcotics box, according to the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office.

An investigation revealed that the seal on the medic box was broken. The box contained vials of fentanyl and the security packaging on the vials had also been “compromised,” the sheriff’s office said.

As the investigation deepened, detectives started looking into all the county medic units and EMS facilities, discovering that multiple narcotics boxes had been tampered with.

Detectives identified 39-year-old Thomas Patrick Raley, the Chief of Emergency Medical Services for the county’s government as the suspect and that he acted alone.

    The investigation is still ongoing.
