When the New York Giants selected wide receiver Malik Nabers in the 2024 NFL draft, he filled a need for a feature weapon on the offense.

There are extremely high expectations around the Giants’ new top target, especially considering he may have very well been the team’s top wide receiver choice as we learned on HBO’s Hard Knocks.

Recently, Nabers was named to CBS Sports’ All-Preseason Rookie Team along with Cardinals’ top choice Marvin Harrison Jr., as the two perimeter receivers:

Nabers was my WR1 in the 2024 class, so he gets the first nod here. I have minimal faith in Daniel Jones fueling a tremendous rookie season for a receiver, yet Nabers is so incredibly talented with juice galore, he should be able to transcend inconsistent quarterbacking. Speed and YAC make for a sturdy foundation at the receiver spot.

The Giants needed to get quarterback Daniel Jones a top pass catcher after investing in Kenny Golladay, Kadarius Toney, and Darren Waller. Now, they will hopefully fill that void once and for all with Nabers.

Of course, the last time the Giants took an LSU wide receiver in the first round, it worked out pretty well with Odell Beckham Jr. winning Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2014.

Nabers is a far superior talent than the receivers Jones had on the team two years ago when they went to the playoffs.

If Nabers is the difference-maker that many expect him to be, he could very well get consideration for Offensive Rookie of the Year and help the Giants take a major step this season.
