A youth sports camp got the kids out during summer vacation, getting them moving and ready for the upcoming school year.

The event was coordinated by former NFL football player David Mims and the Morris County Collaborative Founder and Youth Development Chair Margine Mims.

Margine said, “I want to thank the residents of Morris County for their support and for volunteering to help in any way. Your support of events like the Youth Sports Camp is what makes it a success and brings the community together, and I appreciate all of you.” The coaching team at the youth sports camp were made up of Ruben Mims, Jesse Biles II, Darrin Craddock, and DLSISD Coach Marlon Garrett.

The Morris County Collaborative wishes to thank all their sponsors: the Morris County Collaborative Board, Daingerfield High School Superintendent Lesia Lewis and Administration, DLSISD Cafeteria Workers, The Black Scholarship Foundation, Mayor Wade Kerley, City Of Daingerfield, and Horn Nail Haggard Funeral Home.

“Engaging in team sports teaches children the importance of teamwork, decision- making, and collaboration towards a shared objective,” David Mims said. “Despite potential challenges like pressure and setbacks, the guidance from coaches and families aids in fostering resilience and tackling adversity. These acquired skills and experiences in team sports can significantly contribute to their future professional endeavors and personal growth.”
