HENDERSON, Ky (WEHT) – The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office is warning citizens of a recent scam attempt.

Officials state a resident received a phone call from someone claiming to be with the sheriff’s office. The resident explains that the caller told them they had a warrant for missing jury duty, and they should report to the jail to pay $1,000.

The sheriff’s office wants people to know that this is scam.

“No one from the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office will call you and ask for money to fix a legal issue or ask for you to purchase a gift card to make a payment,” the sheriff’s office said. “If you need reassurance on whether you are receiving a legitimate call from an employee of VCSO, please call 812-421-6200.”
