The Ohio State Buckeyes, Penn State Nittany Lions, and Oregon Ducks have been discussed as potential Big Ten contenders this offseason. However, Kirk Herbstreit talked about another team in the conference that should be getting more attention.

Herbstreit appeared on a recent edition of " The Pat McAfee Show " to talk about Ohio State, EA Sports College Football 25, and the College Football Playoff. He said that "no one's talking about" the Michigan Wolverines this offseason.

"Michigan's probably gonna be a lot better than you guys think," Herbstreit said. "Be careful there. Plus, when was the last time a team won a national championship, and the next year, it's like the season didn't even happen? No one's talking about Sherrone Moore and Michigan, other than their own fans."

Michigan won the national title over the Washington Huskies last season, but the team lost a lot of talent.

Quarterback JJ McCarthy, running back Blake Corum, defensive back Mike Sainristil, edge rusher Jaylen Harrell, defensive lineman Kris Jenkins, and linebacker Junior Colson were some of the Michigan players drafted in April.

One of the most significant holes on the Michigan roster is at quarterback. Alex Orji, Jadyn Davis, Jayden Denegal, Anthony Arnou, and Davis Warren have played in 24 combined games.

However, Michigan returns stars from last season, such as RB Donovan Edwards, safety Rod Moore, defensive lineman Mason Graham, tight end Colston Loveland, and cornerback Will Johnson.

Not many people are picking Michigan to continue its success in 2024 after a national championship season, but Herbstreit is one of them.

It will be interesting to see how Michigan fares in the Big Ten now that the USC Trojans, Oregon Ducks, Washington, and UCLA Bruins are in the conference.

Michigan opens the 2024 campaign against the Fresno State Bulldogs on Aug. 31.
