Lanza Seals, the executive director for Angel Wings Outreach Center , said there are about 12 shelters in the state. If there is no room at one shelter, those in need will have to be redirected to other shelters in hopes of finding a place to stay.

“We do not want them to say, ‘Well, I was better off with their abuser,’ because they are not. So, we need funding to be able to help the victims. We have a lot of places that gives us like region aids and all, and they offer free services to victims. That’s very important, but daily things that they need, food, clothing and all that stuff, they don’t have medical,” said Seals.

She said the light bill at the Angel Wings Outreach Center is nearly $2,500 a month on top of other bills, food and medications for those in need.
