San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy has established himself as one of the biggest names in football and may very well generate more discourse than any signal-caller not named Patrick Mahomes.
Is Purdy truly elite? Is he a game manager? Is he a system quarterback? Is he worthy of a lucrative long-term deal from the 49ers?
The 24-year-old is a controversial figure, but no one can deny that he has already accomplished quite a bit in his young NFL career.
During his first full season last year, Purdy finished fourth in MVP voting and led San Francisco all the way to the Super Bowl, where it ultimately lost to Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in overtime.
Let’s break down the five best performances of Purdy’s career thus far.

5. Week 4 vs. Arizona Cardinals, Oct. 1, 2023
The Cardinals aren’t exactly a fearsome opponent. As a matter of fact, they were the worst defensive team in the NFL last season.
But there is no getting around just how terrific Purdy was in this game.
Purdy went 20-for-21 with 283 yards and a touchdown, setting the 49ers’ single-game record for completion percentage. He also punched in a rushing score in the outing.
San Francisco went on to win the game 35-16.
4. Week 5 vs. Dallas Cowboys, Oct. 8, 2023
Just one week after picking apart the Cardinals, Purdy lit up the Cowboys by going 17-for-24 with 252 yards and four touchdowns in a 42-10 romp.
The difference is that this time, Purdy was up against one of the NFL’s best defenses.
Purdy primarily utilized George Kittle in the victory, with three of his four touchdown passes going to the star tight end. He found fullback Kyle Juszczyk for another.
While this performance didn’t necessarily put Purdy on the map, it did give his naysayers some pause.
3. Week 13 vs. Philadelphia Eagles, Dec. 3, 2023
Purdy and the 49ers had already annihilated the Cowboys earlier in the season, and this time, they destroyed another NFC East squad in the Eagles.
Purdy went 19-for-27 with 314 yards and four touchdowns in the 42-19 rout, finding three different receivers in the end zone: Deebo Samuel (twice), Brandon Aiyuk and Jauan Jennings.
What’s more, Purdy did this on the road in a very hostile Philadelphia environment, and in the cold elements of December, no less.
2. NFC Wild Card Round vs. Seattle Seahawks, Jan. 14, 2023
This was during Purdy’s rookie campaign, when he was thrust into starting duty as a result of season-ending injuries to Trey Lance and Jimmy Garoppolo.
Purdy totaled 13 passing touchdowns and four interceptions during nine regular-season appearances and went undefeated in his five regular-season starts.
His first playoff game was scintillating, as the Iowa State product went 18-for-30 with 332 yards and three touchdowns while also carrying the ball four times for 16 yards and a score in a 41-23 triumph over the division-rival Seahawks.
Purdy wasn’t his most accurate during the game, but he averaged 18.4 yards per completion and wound up with a 131.5 passer rating. On a big stage, no less.
1. Week 11 vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Nov. 19, 2023
That brings us to Purdy’s crown jewel: his Week 11 showing against the Buccaneers last season.
It was a rather arbitrary mid-November game against a non-divisional opponent, so the stakes weren’t exactly sky-high, but Purdy put forth an incredible outing.
The youngster went 21-for-25 with 333 yards and three touchdowns, good for a perfect 158.3 passer rating. He also rushed for 14 yards on four attempts.
That came off of a Week 10 performance against the Jacksonville Jaguars where he also threw three touchdown passes without turning the ball over.
The 49ers defeated Tampa Bay 27-14.
