A young eagle was separated from its parents and sought shelter from the blistering Arizona heat in the right place — under a cop car .

A sergeant with the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office was “working an off-duty road construction detail” on July 11 when one of the workers “noticed a large bird had landed under his patrol vehicle,” the agency said on Facebook on July 23.

Photos show the bird ducked under the front of the police cruiser.

“It’s even too hot for this poor young eagle,” someone commented under the photo.

“The creature appeared to be in distress and acting strangely,” so the sergeant and another deputy carefully moved the car to retrieve the bird, officials said.

The sergeant wraps the eagle in a towel and gently places the bird in the back of the car to cool off, video shows. Photos show the bird resting on the backseat.

Staff from the Arizona Raptor Center came to pick the eagle up and determined the juvenile eagle had become separated from its parents, deputies said.

The eagle might not have made it had the sergeant not stepped in, officials said.

Several people in the comments commended the sergeant for helping the eagle.

“That act of kindness reveals a truly caring heart,” someone commented under the video of the sergeant rescuing the bird.

“Thank you for being so kind saving (this) beautiful eagle,” another person said.
