Joe Custer is ready to lead the single-car Haas Factory Team into battle in 2025 as the team’s President, but they’ll have a little bit of help from another Ford team.

Last weekend, Joe Custer revealed the Haas Factory Team will be allied with RFK Racing, sharing data and helping give their lone driver Cole Custer some help when he returns to the Cup Series. That’s huge news for the Haas Factory Team, as it’s more difficult than ever to win as a single-car team in NASCAR .

During an appearance on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, Joe Custer explained why RFK was the perfect partner to begin an alliance with, and how it’ll all work between the two Ford teams in 2025.

“We’re in really good shape on data, you know, everything we need next year,” Joe Custer said, regarding the Haas Factory Team’s standing for 2025. “There’s no lack of support from Ford. And then RFK, you know, they’ve got experience, and candidly, we have experience, on both sides of alliances. We do it right now in Xfinity, quite a bit of it. I feel like we, in some ways, you know, established a very successful program with Hendrick Motorsports, when we had an affiliation with them. So, we kind of know what it takes.

“You know, fellas, one thing that it really takes, is you can sit at the top and write documents and have agreements, but if crew chiefs and engineers don’t want to play nice. it doesn’t work. So, there’s a personal aspect to racing, that you can never overestimate, and so that is going to be key to our success, because the relationships we actually build with those folks, and we have them now. We work — there’s an aero group called Ford plus, which is a, you know, a group of all the teams, the Ford teams, and so we know their people, they know ours. We look to build on that. But more importantly, at the crew chief, race engineer level, earning, you know, good relationships with RFK.”

Since turning a new leaf with the addition of Brad Keselowski, RFK Racing has been one of NASCAR’s stronger teams, and arguably Ford’s best team outside of Team Penske. That’s the position Stewart-Haas Racing once occupied, so there’s some merit for success there.

Time will tell how Cole Custer and the Haas Factory Team fares in 2025, but their alliance with RFK Racing will go a long way towards helping them find success next season.
