Giannis Antetokounmpo Goes Viral After Pushing Shai Gilgeous-Alexander At Olympics

NBA superstars Giannis Antetokounmpo and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander faced off in the 2024 Paris Olympics on Saturday, July 27. Following Canada's 86-79 victory over Greece, Antetokounmpo was seen pushing Gilgeous-Alexander.

It happened while the Canadian star was seemingly talking smack to Greece guard Giannoulis Larentzakis in a heated manner. As Gilgeous-Alexander tried to walk towards Larentzakis, Antetokounmpo put his arm on his fellow NBA star to block him off from his teammate.

Antetokounmpo gave SGA a slight nudge close to the neck area.

A couple of NBA and Team Canada players were there to grab Gilgeous-Alexander and stop the exchange from escalating. Those players include Jamal Murray, Lu Dort, Andrew Nembhard, and Nickeil Alexander-Walker.

Their heated moment instantly went viral on social media, receiving over 200k views through multiple accounts in less than 30 minutes.

Gilgeous-Alexander finished the game with 21 points and seven assists, while Antetokounmpo led all scorers with 34 points on 11-17 from the field.

Gilgeous-Alexander is widely considered the best basketball player in a team full of NBA stars for Canada right now. Antetokounmpo, meanwhile, is the only active NBA player who competed for Greece on Saturday.

Canada's next matchup will be on July 30 at 7:30 a.m. ET against Team Australia.

Antetokounmpo and Greece will be back on the hardwood on July 30 at 5 a.m. ET against Spain.
