LAWRENCE COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office is looking for an inmate who escaped Saturday afternoon.

LCSO says the inmate is David Alan Wright, who was in jail for kidnapping and giving false information to law enforcement. Authorities say the kidnapping charge came from Wright holding one of his roommates against their will and threatening to hurt them.

LCSO says the roommate has been notified of Wright’s escape.

Authorities say Wright climbed the razor-wire fence after finishing his exercise at around 1:30 p.m. Saturday. He was not noticed until feeding time, around 4:30 p.m.

Anyone who knows of Wright’s whereabouts is encouraged to call 911.

Authorities describe Wright as a white male with bald to short brown hair, brown eyes, 5′ 7″ and 145 pounds.
