It feels pretty safe to say that American tennis star Coco Gauff didn't have her week start out the way that she wanted it to.

On Tuesday morning Gauff was eliminated from the 2024 Summer Olympics singles tournament in the third round, losing to Donna Vekic in straight sets after an incredibly controversial call turned the tides on a break point late in the match.

Things didn't get much better on Wednesday, as Gauff was eliminated from the doubles tournament alongside teammate Jessica Pegula. She then went on to be eliminated from the mixed doubles tournament as well, losing alongside teammate Taylor Fritz.

Not quite how the Team USA flag-bearer expected her Olympics summer to go, I would imagine.

The loss on Tuesday was not without its controversy, as Gauff was left in tears on the court after a horrific call from the official cost her a point at a critical juncture in the match. With a chance to return a serve, Gauff got ready to hit when the line judge declared that the ball was out. Gauff let up and did not return the volley, but a review of the play determined that the ball was actually in, so she lost the point.

Gauff argued the call profusely, but it was to no avail. After the loss, she demanded a rule change going forward, asking for a VAR system to be put into place.

Gauff is now officially out of the 2024 Olympic Games, but there seems to be a very strong chance that she will be among the biggest stars for Team USA during the 2028 Summer Olympics, which will be held in Los Angeles.

Let's hope her week goes better once we get there.
