Kim Matula’s New Movie Has a Release Date!

It won’t be much longer before The Bold & The Beautiful fans can see Kim Matula (ex-Hope) as the iconic comedian Jane Curtin in the highly anticipated feature film about the early days of Saturday Night Live! The movie — now officially titled Saturday Night — will hit theaters on Friday, October 11!

The release date is a significant one as 49 years ago on Oct. 11, 1975, the legendary comedy show made its debut — and the movie is based on the true story of what happened behind the scenes in the 90 minutes leading up to that first live television broadcast. “Full of humor, chaos, and the magic of a revolution that almost wasn’t,” reads the film’s synopsis, “we count down the minutes in real time to the famous words: ‘Live from New York, it’s Saturday Night!’”

In addition to Matula, the ensemble cast includes Gabriel LaBelle (as showrunner Lorne Michaels), Dylan O’Brien (Dan Aykroyd), Cory Michael Smith (Chevy Chase), Rachel Sennott (writer Rosie Shuster), Lamorne Morris (Garrett Morris), Nicholas Braun (as famous puppeteer Jim Henson), Ella Hunt (Gilda Radner), Cooper Hoffman (NBC exec Dick Ebersol), J.K. Simmons (Milton Berle) and Kaia Gerber (Jacqueline Carlin), among others.

“It’s happening. We have a release date!” the B&B alum gushed on Instagram, sharing a photo of a llama (more on that in a minute!). “ Saturday Night is coming to theatres 10-11-24!”

So back to the llama. As it turns out, Matula wasn’t the only cast member from the movie who posted a photo of the farm animal to announce the exciting news. But why? It’s become a running bit that if a scene is set backstage in the hallway, a llama, Abe Lincoln in a top hat, and showgirls are hanging out in the background! Considering that the film is about what happened backstage before SNL’s first episode, Matula and her cast mates seem to have taken that tradition to heart in sharing their excitement about the movie!
