PONCA, Neb. (KCAU) — The Ponca Tribe of Nebraska will be hosting its 30th annual Powwow with a four-day celebration.
The powwow is a celebration of the tribe’s culture, heritage, and traditions, and will feature a variety of dancers, drum groups, and vendors.
Neb. Game and Parks looking for meat processors to help food banks The Powwow will be held from August 8 to 11 at the Ponca Community Grounds, located southwest of Niobrara, Nebraska. Grand entries on August 8 will begin at 7 p.m., on August 9 at 1 p.m., August 10 at 8 p.m., and August 11 at 1 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public.
This year’s powwow will include a Team Dance Contest, a youth lacrosse demonstration, a cornhole tournament, a horseshoe tournament, and archery.
In addition to the powwow, the tribe’s diabetes program will also be hosting a Family Fun Run at 5 p.m. on August 9. Walkers and runners are welcome on the 2-mile course, and prizes will be awarded to every age division.
