CHRISTIAN COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — A man is facing a number of charges following a Thursday afternoon traffic stop in Christian County that led to the discovery of illegal narcotics in his vehicle and his home.

According to the Christian County Sheriff’s Office, the traffic stop was “a continuation of a two-month long investigation by the CCSO Anti-Crime Unit and assisting agencies.”

Authorities said they stopped Daviontae Gulledge, 27, of Oak Grove, at approximately 2 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 1 along South Main Street in Pembroke for not wearing a seatbelt. When deputies approached the vehicle, they reportedly noticed a strong smell of marijuana.

Officials said a Hopkinsville K9 unit helped with the stop and alerted on the vehicle, resulting in the discovery of a black backpack containing suspected methamphetamine, crack cocaine, fentanyl, marijuana, digital scales, and cash.

Based on the evidence found, detectives from the Christian County Anti-Crime Unit (ACU) obtained a search warrant for Gulledge’s home in the 100 block of Mandarin Drive. According to law enforcement, that search uncovered additional contraband, including crack cocaine, fentanyl, marijuana, a handgun, and cash.

Gulledge was arrested and brought to the Christian County Jail, where authorities said he faces the following charges:

    • First-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (meth)
    • First-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (cocaine)
    • Trafficking in a controlled substance (fentanyl, first offense)
    • Using restricted ammunition during a felony
    • Trafficking in marijuana (less than 5 pounds)
