The Toronto Blue Jays decided to blow it up at the trade deadline, parting ways with numerous key players including Justin Turner, Kevin Kiermaier, Trevor Richards, Danny Jansen and Yusei Kikuchi, among others.

While they did keep franchise cornerstones Bo Bichette and Vladimir Guerrero Jr, Bichette hasn't played since late July after suffering a calf injury. Blue Jays skipper John Schneider gave an update on his shortstop on Friday and said he's rehabbing well, but he's yet to begin any baseball activities, per Shi Davidi.

It's been a down year for the 26-year-old, hitting just .223 with four home runs and 30 RBIs in 79 contests. That's a far cry from his .306 average in 2023. There were rumors leading up to the deadline that Toronto could trade one or both of their stars, but they remain at the center of what this ball club is trying to build for the future.

Bichette's injury happened on July 19th against the Detroit Tigers. He lined out and appeared to tweak his calf when leaving the batter's box.

The Blue Jays sit at the bottom of the American League East with a 50-59 record.
