Victor Wembanyama, France's Olympic Basketball Knockout Bracket Revealed
By Jonah Kubicek,

The San Antonio Spurs will continue to have one player represent them in the 2024 Paris Olympic Basketball tournament, as Victor Wembanyama and Team France pushed through, finishing group play 2-1. They beat Brazil and Japan but fell to Germany, who won the group.
Eight teams will advance to the knockout stage, which is a single-elimination tournament. France is the sixth seed and has a first-round date with Canada on August 6. Team USA, as expected, will take on Brazil in the opening round.
The superstar for the Spurs will have a tough matchup, as Canada has ten NBA players on their roster. They are led by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, but feature one of the deepest rosters in the Olympics.
Their two non-NBA talents both play in the top division of the Spanish basketball league, so their 12-man roster has high-quality players both up and down the lineup.
The other opening-round matchups include Germany vs. Greece and Serbia vs. Australia. France, if they beat Germany, will take on either Germany or Greece. Team USA, assuming they beat Brazil, will play the winner of Australia and Serbia before advancing to the finals.
France has one of the toughest matchups in the first round, but if Wembanyama and company are able to win, they avoid seeing the USA until the gold medal game. In the second round, they will likely face Germany, who beat them 85-71 in the group phase. However, the two countries split a pair of exhibition matches earlier in the summer.
