NFL Players Vote: Top 10 Quarterbacks

Every year, the NFL has its players vote on who they believe are the best players in the league. This vote is boiled down to a top 100 list. NFL.com posts the results 10 players at a time. 2024 saw 20 wide receivers make the list, only three tight ends, and 16 quarterbacks.

Here are the top 10 quarterbacks in the NFL, as voted by their peers.

10. Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, aka "The Tiger King" made the list as the 10th signal caller and 29th player overall. Injured last year in the 10th game of the season, Burrow still ended up with a completion percentage of 66.8% and averaging 231 yards per game.

With a career passer rating of 98.6, Burrow is often touted as the kryptonite to Patrick Mahomes' superman. He has a winning record against the Chiefs starter in the regular season, and more importantly in the playoffs. If not for injuries, he may have been voted much higher on this list.

9. Tua Tagovailoa, Miami Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins won the "Tank for Tua" sweepstakes and selected the Alabama product with the third overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. He's battled concussions, but last year he led the league in total passing yards with 4,624.

He has a career completion percentage of 66.9% and has tossed 81 touchdowns to just 37 interceptions. In the past two years, he has averaged over 270 yards per game. The Dolphins just inked him to a 4-year extension worth $212 million.

8. Jordan Love, Green Bay Packers

Jordan Love was drafted 26th overall in the 2020 draft and sat behind future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers for the first three years of his career. In his first season as a starter, he completed 64.2% of his passes for 4,159 yards and 11 interceptions. The team went 9-8 and secured a Wildcard playoff spot.

In the last eight games of the 2023 season, Love went 6-2 and completed over 70% of his passes. He also averaged over 270 yards per game passing and tossed 18 touchdowns with only one interception. His play earned him an extension that made him the highest paid player in history.

7. Brock Purdy, San Francisco 49ers

It's hard to believe there could be a feel-good story better than that of the Greatest quarterback of all-time, Tom Brady. The San Francisco 49ers are doing their best to beat it though, with former Mr. Irrelevant (last pick in the draft) Brock Purdy catapulting to stardom.

After going undefeated in the regular season as a rookie, Purdy led the 49ers to a 12-4 record in 2023. He completed 69.4% of his passes, and led the league in yards per catch, yards in the air per catch, and finished behind only Lamar Jackson and CJ Stroud in touchdown to interception ratio.

6. CJ Stroud, Houston Texans

Fans were blown away by CJ Stroud's performance last season, which was also his rookie year. He also impressed his peers, who voted him the 20th-best player in the league and the 6th-ranked quarterback. He posted a 9-6 record and took the Houston Texans to the playoffs.

Stroud completed 63.9% of his passes for 4,108 yards (a league-leading 273.9 yards per game), 23 touchdowns, and 5 interceptions. He finished the season with a passer rating of 100.8.

5. Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys

Dallas Cowboys starting quarterback Dak Prescott is butt of many jokes. This unfair criticism is expected for the player at the helm of America's team. People hate the Cowboys and they hate Dak by association. His peers see him in a completely different light.

The players voted Prescott as the 16th-best player in the league and a top-five quarterback. In 2023 he led the NFL in completions and touchdowns. He also threw for over 4,000 yards for the third time in his eight-year career.

4. Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia Eagles

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts has been dealt his fair share of challenges. After being benched by Nick Saban at Alabama, Hurts nearly won the Heisman for the Oklahoma Sooners. He was selected in the second round of the 2020 draft and started four games as a rookie.

Last season Hurts completed 65.4% of his passes for 3,858 yards and 23 touchdowns. He also ran for 605 yards and an additional 15 touchdowns. This performance was good enough for players in the league to vote him as the fourth-best quarterback in the NFL, and the 15th-best player overall.

3. Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills

It's easy to understand why Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen was voted into the top three by his teammates and opponents. He's already thrown 167 touchdown passes in his career and ran for another 53. He has arguably the strongest arm in the NFL.

Last year, Allen went 11-6 with the Bills, completing 66.5% of his passes (a career-best) for 4,306 yards and 29 touchdowns. He added another 15 rushing touchdowns to achieve 40 total touchdowns for the fourth straight season. It was also his fourth consecutive season over 4,000 yards passing.

2. Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs

Patrick Mahomes tops most fan and media-based quarterback lists, but according to his peers, he is not the top signal-caller in the league. The Kansas City Chiefs starter had a down year by his standards last season, but pretty good for almost any other quarterback.

Mahomes completed 67.2% of his passes in 2023 for 4,183 yards and 27 touchdowns. The season ended with him taking a confetti shower after winning his third Super Bowl. There isn't a throw he can't make on the field, and once his receivers find a cure for their butter fingers, his numbers will take a big jump.

Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens

Fresh off his second league MVP (the first of which was unanimous), Baltimore Ravens signal-caller Lamar Jackson was voted as the NFL's best quarterback by the players (second-best player in the NFL overall). With a new offensive coordinator in Baltimore, he is proving he is as elite with his arm as he is with his legs.

Last season, Jackson completed 67.2% of his passes for 3,678 yards and 24 touchdowns. He added another 821 yards on the ground to go with 5 rushing touchdowns. The Ravens went 13-3 as Jackson showed the fans, coaches, and apparently, all the players in the league just how elite he is.
