It’s hard to imagine we’re only a few weeks away from the start of the 2024 college football season. There are big changes coming this year with conference realignment and an expanded College Football Playoff. Before we see how the season unfolds, some of college football’s best analysts will try to predict it with preseason top 25 rankings.
Action Network’s Brett McMurphy released his preseason AP ballot that’s full of brand programs from start to finish:
Oregon Ducks
Georgia Bulldogs
Ohio State Buckeyes
Texas Longhorns
Alabama Crimson Tide
Ole Miss Rebels
Penn State Nittany Lions
Miami Hurricanes
Notre Dame Fighting Irish
Utah Utes
Kansas State Wildcats
Oklahoma State Cowboys
Clemson Tigers
Missouri Tigers
Florida State Seminoles
Oklahoma Sooners
Michigan Wolverines
Tennessee Volunteers
Iowa Hawkeyes
LSU Tigers
Texas A&M Aggies
USC Trojans
Iowa State Cyclones
Virginia Tech Hokies
Kansas Jayhawks
McMurphy is holding the new SEC in high regard with nine teams named in his top 25. The Big Ten comes in with six representatives, including McMurphy’s top-ranked program in Oregon. Utah was the first of five Big 12 teams listed, shortly followed by two other conference members at No. 11 and No. 12. The ACC appears four times on McMurphy’s rankings.
Rarely does the final college football AP poll reflect the ones issued in the preseason, but this list gives fans a lot to get excited about. The year kicks off in Dublin, Ireland of all places for an international matchup between the Florida State Seminoles and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets at noon on Aug. 24.
