Ohio State and Georgia were about as close a call as it gets for Klatt, but he ultimately rode with the Buckeyes at No. 1 over the recent two-time champions.

Meanwhile, programs like Texas A&M and Nebraska are always big names, but top-25 appearances haven't been a common occurrence in recent years. But Klatt is expressing confidence in the pair of coaches both hired by Trev Alberts, so this fall is shaping up to be a huge year for the former Nebraska and current Texas A&M athletic director.

Klatt is certainly a fan of the Mike Elko hire:

"He's familiar with College Station, I like him long-term," Klatt said. "I question what they will be this year, but they still have talent, even with all the departures."

He also believes the very "committed" A&M fans are due a winner after years of strife under Jimbo Fisher.

As for Matt Rhule at Nebraska, Joel Klatt sees all the potential in the world and cited the Huskers' returning offensive line, dynamic young QB and poor record in close games as reasons to believe in a turnaround this season.
