The Las Vegas Raiders have been in the dark for a while now. They haven't won a playoff game in 20 years, and before head coach Antonio Pierce took over midseason last year, they were a team that was considered an automatic win for other teams who had them on their schedule.
Now, obviously, things are different with Pierce as the head coach. You can feel it even as the media when you talk to the team when you enter the building, and when you watch them practice -- everything feels different. But, they still have some work to do to try and revamp the Raiders of old that were so dominant.
The Raiders need to change from what they have been used to for the last 20 years, and Pierce is on his way to doing that.
"For right now, for us, it's [team motto] you too, you squared," Pierce said on Sirius XM Radio. "You plus you, no you times you. Does that make sense? I need to see more out of you. Let's stop taking these baby steps on everybody. Let's go through the process, how about we take that leap, how about we take a true leap?
"I want us to be used to being uncomfortable. I want us to make those leaps and bounds, because being average for so long, is old. It's old, and we are done with that. We are done with that."
Now, that's a lot of talking, yeah, but I like to think of Pierce as a guy who, when he says things, he believes they are going to happen. He truly believes that he is speaking things into existence. And, he should believe, or he shouldn't be a coach. But the thing is, there are already major improvements that you can see. And, it won't happen overnight, but if there is anyone who can get the team back to that old Raider way, it's Antonio Pierce.
The motto really sticks out though, because it's a similar motto and lifestyle that Maxx Crosby lives by, only it's being preached to everyone. if they can get everyone to think the same, work the same, and really just play the same way that Maxx Crosby does, with all energy, love, and passion, then the Raiders will be there before we know it.
