This is one of things you probably never thought about, but are now wondering. Do moose snore?

Moose are the largest members of the deer family in North America. These beast can reach over 1,500 pounds and stand over 6.5 feet at their shoulder. They are massive and an absolute sight to be seen. These beasts live in the woods and eat primarily water vegetation during the summer and trees during the winter months. They use their massive size to get to food that other creatures can’t reach as easily.

But wondering around being that large must get tiring. I mean these things wonder through the thickest forests and into deep lakes, through deep snow in the winter. Bulls even have to haul massive antlers through all of that.

So, how do moose sleep? Well, they typically do what is called ‘bedding’ and they find a somewhat sheltered place out of the wind to lay down and have a snooze. I’ve seen them standing up from this but can’t say I’ve ever walked right up to a sleeping moose. And most people haven’t… their senses and alertness generally allow them to wake before trouble starts.

But this particular moose was found running through the streets of Sudbury, Ontario, a few years back, spotted in numerous locations around town.

“The moose was first spotted in the Flour Mill, made its way through the Donovan, crossed Elm St. and down to the CP rail yard off Lorne Street, where it remained for about an hour before wandering in the lumber yard at Kelly Lake Building Supplies on Brady Street.

The Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry was able to tranquilize the moose and released it back into the wild.”

But the hilarious part is that once they tranquilized the moose and it fell asleep, they walked up to it and found it snoring. Like your paw paw in his recliner during Monday Night Football… just out like a lamp, snoring away.
