Olympic swimmer Luana Alonso was booted out of Olympic village 'over her outfits'

Luana Alonso was asked to leave Paraguay's section of the Olympic Village after angering team officials by wearing skimpy outfits instead of team clothing.

Alonso is said to have left the team to take a trip to Disneyland Paris, where she posted images drinking champagne with a friend before returning later that day. She had taken the trip to Disneyland after failing to qualify for the semi-finals, before writing to her followers on social media that she intended to retire from the sport.

But after returning from her trip to Disneyland, Alonso is said to have been asked to leave for 'inappropriate clothing' , which has now been revealed to be her clothing choices in and around the facilities.

The Daily Mail has reported that Paraguay team officials were displeased by Alonso's decision to wear her own clothing rather than team ones provided. They felt she was causing 'a distraction to other athletes' who had yet to compete.

Athletes who perform in the Olympic Games are welcome to remain in the village and almost exclusively do so, where competitors are allowed to mix together throughout the games until it ends on August 11 with parties held at the end of the games. However, Alonso was asked to leave early due to her alleged behavior, and is already back in Texas, where she studies at SMU.

A Larissa Schaerer, the head of the COP mission in Paraguay, read: "Her presence is creating an inappropriate atmosphere within Team Paraguay. We thank her for proceeding as instructed, as it was of her own free will that she did not spend the night in the Athletes' Village."

An Instagram model with over 700,000 followers on Instagram and 500,000 on TikTok, Alonso finished sixth in the 100m butterfly on the first day of the Games before posting her retirement message.

She wrote: "Swimming: thank you for allowing me to dream, you taught me to fight, to try, perseverance, sacrifice, discipline and many more.

"I gave you part of my life and I don't change it for anything in the world because I lived the best experiences of my life, you gave me thousands of joys, friends from other countries that I will always carry them in my heart, unique opportunities. It’s not goodbye, it’s see you soon."
