Sue Bird Makes 'Uncomfortable' Admission About Playing For Team USA

WNBA legend Sue Bird has had no shortage of Olympic success during her career. She has five gold medals, with the first coming in 2004 in Athens and the last in the Tokyo Games.
This time, she gets to sit back and watch as a fan for the first time in a couple of decades.
Recently, Bird addressed the feeling of playing for Team USA while talking with Carmelo Anthony and The Kid Mero during an episode of the " 7 PM in Brooklyn " podcast.
"This is my blanket statement for USA Basketball," Bird said. "It is the most uncomfortable basketball I've ever played. You're never comfortable. I would argue there's maybe a player or two max on a team that gets to do what they normally do. They get to be who they are. Everybody is uncomfortable the whole time. ... I tell everyone who joins the team, 'If you're uncomfortable, you're doing it right.'"
It's quite a strong stance from Bird, especially given her illustrious accolades during her Olympic and WNBA careers.
Bird was the top overall pick in the 2002 WNBA Draft by the Seattle Storm and went on to win four WNBA titles and be named to the All-Star team 13 times.
Bird won five straight gold medals in the Olympics, an unreal feat that shows the dominance of Team USA.
But she admits it was uncomfortable. After all, with so many stars on the roster, players have to adjust and go out of their comfort zone. That hasn't made much of a difference as Team USA has won nine gold medals entering this year's games.
And they are in the quarterfinals and once again the favorites to take home the gold.
