Kevin Durant set a new record for Team USA today, as he surpassed Lisa Leslie for the most points scored for Team USA at the Olympics. But his reaction to it was incredibly casual, with KD even calling the accomplishment a 'little record'. Durant even joked that he broke the record partly because he has played for such a long time.

"A little record, scored a lot of points. Just 'cause I've been here a long time."

Durant surpassed Leslie's 488 points with Team USA at the Olympics in today's quarter-final against Brazil. Durant now holds the record with 494 points, a record that is going to continue to grow as Durant is sure to score more points in his next game against Serbia, and could grow even further if Team USA reaches the final.

Leslie congratulated Durant on the achievement on X , applauding him for the fight he put up for Team USA, before encouraging him to go win the gold medal in Paris. Durant has the chance to surpass Carmelo Anthony as the most successful Team USA Olympics player with a gold medal win in Paris.

Team USA winning gold would secure KD his fourth gold medal, which would tie him with Carmelo Anthony for the most Olympic medals in men's basketball. However, Durant would have all four gold medals, whereas Melo has three gold medals and one bronze which he won with Team USA in 2004.

Durant had a solid outing against Brazil in the quarter-final. Coming off the bench, Durant contributed 11 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1 steal to help Team USA dominate against Brazil, winning the game 122-87. They now play Serbia on Thursday, with the winner advancing to the gold medal game.

Kevin Durant Reflects On Record; Shouts Out Lisa Leslie

Later in the day, Kevin Durant took to X to share his thoughts on his history-making performance against Brazil. Durant noted that records are meant to be broken, and he awaits the day his new record is broken, and showed love to Lisa Leslie for her support, and encouraged his teammates to win gold at the Olympics.

"Records are meant to be broken, I’ll hold on to this until another great comes along and passes me up… Lisa Leslie, you are the gold standard in basketball, I appreciate your love and support throughout the years... Much love to you always… It’s all about the gold baby. Let’s get it fellas."

Durant has been coming off the bench for Team USA at the Olympics in his first four games. And according to Steve Kerr, it is going to continue for the rest of the tournament. While Kerr may not want to mess with a winning formula, some have been critical of Durant's use.

Kerr and Team USA are probably trying to be careful with Durant, choosing to bring him off the bench due to his injuries before the Olympics. Regardless of whether he is a starter or coming off the bench, Durant has shown that he is a problem for all opposing players and teams at the Olympics.
