Entering the 2024 Wyndham Championship , the PGA Tour's final regular-season tournament before the FedEx Cup Championship, many players find themselves on the outside looking in standings-wise. But a few golfers got some extra help Tuesday due to a minor correction — unfortunately for a tragic reason — by the PGA Tour.

Grayson Murray Was Still on the List

Grayson Murray, who tragically took his own life in May , was still included on the standings' final points list — and well inside the top 70 cutline at No. 57 due to his early-season win at the Sentry and stellar performances prior to his unfortunate passing.

Reports earlier in the week indicated that Murray would remain in the standings in memoriam. However, the PGA Tour ultimately decided to remove Murray and feature the top 70 current players instead of a memorial field of 71.

Grayson Murray's passing still hurts . Tuesday's standings adjustment served as another moment of reflection over what could have been for a promising young star gone too soon. I wish the Tour would've just left his name in the field. He earned it while others haven't.

Murray was well within the limits of automatically qualifying for the first round of the playoffs and borderline for the second round due to the impeccable season he was putting together. Hopefully the PGA Tour finds another way to honor Murray for his stellar season in the coming weeks. All around, it was a sad day and a reminder to the golf community that the season is being played down a man, and a good one at that.
