BTS member Suga is being investigated by police after he was found lying on the ground after falling off his electric scooter while under the influence of alcohol .

The 31-year-old was found by a cop on the streets of Yongsan district in Seoul, South Korea . He was later questioned at the Yongsan Police Station on charges of violating the Road Traffic Act.

The musician has spoken out about the incident and apologized for his actions. "I feel heavy hearted and sorry for disappointing you," Suga said in a statement. "Although no one was injured and no property was damaged, I take full responsibility for my actions, which cannot be excused."

He continued on the K-pop fan community platform Weverse: "I sincerely apologize to everyone." He explained how he had been drinking at a dinner meeting before returning on an electric kick scooter.

Suga said: "Due to my careless assumption that the distance was short and my failure to recognize that operating an electric scooter while under the influence of alcohol is prohibited, I violated traffic laws. I fell while parking the kick scooter in front of my house.

"And then there was a police officer nearby, I was given a breathalyzer test and subsequently had my license revoked and was fined." The breathalyzer test revealed the singer's blood alcohol concentration to be at a level warranting license cancelation.

The level for license cancelation is 0.08 percent or higher, according to the police. Suga was allowed to return home after cooperating with the police investigation.

The musician has been serving as a social service agent, an alternative form of military service in South Korea, since March. Suga was enlisted as a social service agent after being “ruled unfit for the regular combat duty”. He is due to be discharged in June next year.

BTS went on hiatus last November as RM, Jimin, V and Jung Kook enlisted in the military. Back in 2022, older band member Jin began his compulsory military service, followed by his bandmate J-Hope.
